Bri's Beautiful Art

I've been meaning to post a link to my friend's Bri's Etsy store for some time, and I'm finally getting around to it! She has some beautiful pieces that would be perfect in a nursery, or really anywhere. I know I'm a little late for christmas, but they would make a great gift! So please, check it out and support this gal's lovely art!

Friday Inspiration

I'm feeling a little blah today, so here's some inspiration that perked me up!

This European photographer, Dan Mountford, I found today via trend land,  and he has some amazing work, both design and photography. He plays with double (and sometimes triple) exposing film, something I've only ever done accidently. His work is absolutely gorgeous though, and I think I may just have to finagle a print. In the mean time, perhaps I'll get out there and start experimenting with my own double exposures this weekend...hmmm

I heart rue!

I've stumbled upon an awesome online magazine, rue, and I'm absolutely smitten. So much so, that I just used the word smitten. As such a print lover it's hard for me to fall in love with a digital magazine, and if there were an option to get a print version (which in all honesty, I may have some how missed) I would subscribe in a heart beat. In fact I'm seriously considering printing the entire thing out.

Rue encompasses everything that makes me smile, design, homemade craft, photography and interior design. They also have a fabulous blog that I highly recommend. There has only been 3 issues of the magazine so far, but given that they are around 300 pages, you'll have your hands full catching up on just the three. So if you get a chance swing by and have a looksie!

New Year, New Face!

That's right it's a new year and time for a little facelift. Well, a blog facelift that is. Not much, but I was feeling a little bored with the old look, so here's to a new year. And if this update being almost a month late is any indicator to my motivation this year, I'm sure I'll get a ton done.

Other new starts this year? Well I'm not even remotely considering dieting or working out, so that's out, but I might take a little more time to do things that make me happy. Traveling would be the biggest thing, and thought plans have fell through here and there, I'm determined to get out of the country this year. In the mean time Will and I will be joining my Dad, Wendy and Becca in Sanoma in March, to visit some family and do some wine tasting, so that'll be nice little get away.

Along with traveling, I'm going to make a point to take more photos, and learn more about photography. Even though Will can't stand me pointing a camera in his face constantly, he's one my favorite subjects, so sorry darlin'! Speaking of, here I am doing that very thing:

Cheers to a new year!

Steven's Pass

Will, Camille and I went to Stevens this weekend, and Will brought the nice camera, catching some pretty awesome shots.

Homemade pillows

My sister gave me a great little sewing machine for christmas...
...and I finally got to play with it this week, whipping up a little pillow. It honestly didn't turn out as awesome as I thought it would, mostly because the felt anchor (which I sewed by hand for some reason) turned out a little small and not centered. I suppose I could just play it off like it was suppose to be that way, but I feel it's pretty obvious what happened. Either way it was fun to sew something again as I haven't since I lived with Camille, who had her mom's sewing machine. Also, I'm pretty excited about mastering the zipper, as buttons don't seem to last very long around here, thanks to my furry companion.

The two on the left I made as well, but the others are from good ol' ikea

Something Pretty

Sometimes you just want to look at something pretty and day dream, today is one of those days. Happy Friday everyone!

Somewhere in Tuscany. ho hum...

Perhaps inspiration for the anchor tattoo I want?

Reminds me of the Edward Sharp album cover, which I'm in love with

I got a crock pot for Christmas...

...and I'M PUMPED! If there is any indication of how excited I am about it, the first thing I made is menudo, and I was so excited to try it, I took one blurry picture and threw my camera to the side to dig in.
I thought menudo was easy to make before, but then I got a crock pot, and now you have to be borderline retarded to screw it up, and it's awesome. I threw short ribs, hominy, hot tomato sauce, a little enchilada sauce, an onion, garlic and oregano into the pot on low and went to bed. Simple as that. I woke to the apartment smelling of deliciousness, and had lunch ready. Garnish with lime and cilantro and you're good to go. Another indicator of how pumped I am about making menudo is I can't bring myself to put it in the fridge. I'm perfectly happy keeping the crock pot on low for a week and slowly (well, not that slowly if we're all being honest) scarfing it bowl by bowl.

All I can say is, the crock pot is going to provide many-an-amazing dinner from here on out. I can count on gaining about 10 pounds, and I've never been more ok with it. Up next, Will's pulled pork.... mmmmm (Homer voice)
