Happy Friday

Hopefully I'll get out there in the sun and take some pictures this weekend. Happy Friday!

Happy Birthday Heather!

It was Heather's big 2-5 yesterday and we went out and had a great time. She's on my couch this morning, trying to recover and not do this:

Happy b-day friend :)

Awesome Online Printing

My coworker introduced me to an awesome website for business card printing, and I thought I would share. I'm going to be getting my dad's business cards printed with them, so I'll know first hand just how awesome it is, but so far I have good reviews, and from a lady who knows her printing. What's particularly awesome about this site is you can order cards with different fronts/backs. In other words, you can have a business card with 6 different images on the back, at no extra charge. Pretty awesome, eh? Check em out here.

Design Love : Beer Posters

My lovely friend Heather sent me a link this morning to brewwd and it's possibly the coolest thing I've seen in a while. I have such love and respect for simple design, and this is a perfect example. Not to mention we all know how badly I'm itching to design beer labels and packaging again, and this has sparked the craving all over again. And the greatest part of all of this? They sell prints! I'm about 99% sure I'll be buying one this morning...

Saturday, is that you?

This weekend Will and escaped to the cabin, and I couldn't be happier about the decision. We left Friday evening, and we awoke Saturday to the sun shining, and the weather acting like it should in Spring. It pushed 70, and I spend most of the day in the yard with a book.  Sitting in the sun has got to be the most relaxing way to spend a Saturday, and Will and I are sporting well deserved sun burns.

Roasted Salmon with Bacon and Arugula

Man, I have not cooked in a while. Living in a neighborhood where delicious food it within four feet, you get lazy. Finally tonight, after several meals out this week, I decided it was time to cook. And when I'm in the mood to cook, I'm in the mood to cook. Tonight's meal wasn't particularly complicated or crazy, but it was delicious, and healthy-ish. As usual, I didn't get a great picture of it because I was too excited to eat, but you get the general idea. Here is my rundown of the recipe (originally from William Sonoma), keep in mind I don't measure things:

• Fry 3 strips of bacon and set aside on a paper towel and chop
• Remove most of the grease (save for another meal, if you're feeling healthy, or you're my dad)
• Add chopped garlic and shallot, simmer for about a minute (turning down the heat)
• Add vinegar to deglaze the pan, let simmer for a few minutes
• Add a little chicken stock, again simmering for a few minutes
• Whisk in olive oil, set aside, covered
• Place salmon fillets in baking dish, rubbed with salt and pepper
• Cook salmon for 15 minutes or so, or until it flakes slightly when you poke with a fork (side note; I like my salmon slightly rare, and tend to not cook it quite as long)
• Dress arugula/greens with most of the sauce
• Add salmon atop greens, add remainder of the sauce and chopped bacon, squeeze lemon on top.
• Pour yourself another glass of Chardonnay and enjoy!

Design Love : Tattoo Edition

I stumbled upon the work of Amanda Wachob the other day, and needless to say I've been obsessing with it ever since. It's very rare you come across a tattoo artist's portfolio that is as unique as hers, and it's making me want to take a trip to NYC and book an appointment. I've never seen tattoos in the style before, and it's very intriguing, I love the idea of the body as a canvas, and I this takes that idea to any entire different level. Whether you into tattoos or not, her work is amazing, and definitely worth checking out.

Saturday, is that you?

Love living in a neighborhood where stumbling upon a free concert isn't unusual. Happy record store day ya'll!

Mustache Love

It's Friday, I'm feeling a little random; Yay mustaches! A phenomenon that has evolved from creepy to hipster. Gotta love it.

Life on the Hill Tastes Good: Anchovies & Olives

The lovely Camille and I had a night out on Wednesday, and it was long overdue. We decided to treat ourselves, as it's Seattle Restaurant Week, and many restaurants around the city are doing 3 course meals for $28. Of course it always ends up costing more with drinks and such, but it's still a great deal. Camille and I spend several hours at Anchovies & Olives, splitting a bottle of wine and feasting on a 3 course gourmet dinner filled with escolar, (raw fish, avocado and picked jalapeno- easily our favorite dish) swordfish, clam and nettle risotto and and plethora of other nibbles, half of which I couldn't pronounce, but won't soon forget. My only gripe was the risotto was a little light, and not as sticky as I like it, but that stems from watching too much Top Chef I'm sure.

If you're in the area next week, I highly recommend checking this place out, and allowing yourself to drop some dough on a meal that's totally worth it.

Snow-bound

Will and I took a long weekend to play in the snow, returning home a few hours ago, tired and sore. It was a great weekend, and Timberline was amazing. Being able to practically ski out your front door is amazing, and dipping into a hot tub after a long day on the mountain, is even better.

Spring in My Step

I've been feeling a bit gloomy and gross lately with all the grey weather we've been having, and it's time to snap out of it! Maybe it's because it's friday, maybe it's because I'm getting dinner tonight with a good friend. Whatever is it, time to put a little color into my day. It is April after-all, and supposedly Spring...
