It must be because new years is tomorrow, because I'm thinkin' about bling. I just might need to buy myself something shiny today.

the time of year booze is acceptable in coffee
Per tradition, I made my vanilla coffee liqueur again this year. I got to it a little late so it's a bit strong, but hey, can't complain about that. Recipe can be found here.
wait, wait, wait
Christmas is over just like that? And new years is in 3 days you say? Well hot damn.

sometimes
Once in a while it's nice to take a break and make something for yourself. Can you guess what song was just on the radio?
in home spa
d*s has a great bathroom before and after today you should check out. The specific thing that grabbed my attention though was the slatted wood floors of the shower. This is definitely going in the 'dream bathroom' files. Oh and the tub? I could get into that.

We got our paper in from the printer the other day and I'm so happy with the results! Excuse the quick iphone pics, I was too impatient and wanted to share. Let me know if you want some!

the card situation
I'm realizing I have a thing for cards, which is ironic because I never send them to anyone. Did I send a Christmas cards this year? Nope. Do I have a plethora to choose from if I did want to? Yup. Here are some awesome cards, which I might purchase, and definitely won't send.

Brackish Pop Up Shop
Brackish, an awesome handmade furniture company had a pop up shop Will and I checkout out at Cafe Vita's bean room this weekend. If you haven't seen there work before I recommend checking it out, they have really great pieces. The sort of things that would look great in an industrial loft.

Heather, Camille, Sara and I went to Homo for the Holidays last night and it was a blast. I mean Born This Way cover about the birth of Jesus? Come on, what more do you need?
winter color
I'm doing a little color exploration for a project I'm currently working on and I was drawn to this picture and it's subtle hues.

work it out
This idea for a work station is pretty awesome, though you would have to be super organized and have minimum desk clutter to actually make it stay this awesome. Maybe not for me after all..

wooly
Up until recently, it was about 40 degrees in our apartment in the mornings, as either our heat was only sometimes working, or our half baked maintenance man forgot to turn the boiler on. The jury's still out on that one. Whatever the case, it was cold as hell (well, you know what I mean) and I found myself hunting around for a wool blanket. Then, given the time of year, I found myself asking my mom for one for Christmas. It's not as cold anymore, but it's still on the 'ol wishlist ;)

domestication
I'll admit it, I want an apron. Just typing those words frightens me. What's next? A vacuum on my christmas wish list? Oy-vey. Of course, like 99% of things I like, I'm going to attempt to make it instead of buying it. Which adds the 213th item on my list of things I want to make. When making things for myself though, the pressure is lifted, because if I mess it up it's not going to anyone and I won't be scrambling to come up with something else at the last moment, which is bound to happen this christmas. And if we're all being honest, I'll probably procrastinate on my DIY present list and make this for myself before diving into gift land. We'll call it a practice run.

old faithful shop
Can you tell I've been hunting around online for presents lately? I rediscovered a the Old Faithful Shop today, which again, has about 1000 items I love, and with a wide price range, which is always nice. Here are a few that caught me eye...

terrain
During my lunch break I was surfing the web (do people still say that?) and I stumbled upon this awesome little store that I immediately fell in love with; Terrain. Specifically the kitchen section, which so conveniently has a "gift for the chef" section which I'm now wanting everything from. What initially caught my eye was the chalk board labels (5), as I was just thinking about wanting to label the mason jars in my kitchen. I can't tell you how many times I've almost added powdered sugar to something instead of flour... making me feel like an old lady. Anyway, these are a few things I thought were particularly pretty, if you happen to be shopping for a chef this year.

well branded :: the people's supermarket
I've actually had this kickin' around for a while and rediscovered it today when I was looking for inspiration for a logo I'm working on. I love the simple brand colors, clean typography and fun icons. And you can bet your ass I would drive pretty far out of the way to shop there.

sunny sunday
The sun decided to come out today so Will and I decided to hop in the car and get out of the city for the afternoon. We found ourselves at a lake near Snoqualmie falls, where Moe could swim (it was crazy cold by the way) and I could take a few pics. I wish more winter days were like these, sunny and slow.

tonight
You know how you have those few bands that you can see about a million times and you still feel giddy when they walk on stage? The Cave Singers are definitely one of those bands for me. I've seen them quite a few times and it's never a dull show. Tonight they're playing a block from our apartment and I'm pretty pumped about it. Lost of friends, and lots of great music, what's not to love?
the x-mas thing
In further attempts to get myself into the holiday spirit I'm determined to get a tree this weekend. I'm thinking though the all-out-big-ass-christmas-tree with all the trimmings might not be my thing, and I certainly don't think it's Wills. In searching for new ways to do christmas, I've found a few simple solutions I'm diggin', like potting branches or a simple wreath.
Another solution to the "been there done that" christmas decor is trying a new color palate. Not everything needs to be green and red, there are plenty of other colors out there people. Plus, we all know it's christmas, it doesn't have to be shoved down your throat at every turn (in my opinion). My color palate? I'm thinking black and white and a neutral brown. Pictures to follow if I actually get around to all these ideas...

glass jars
I really love this idea, I have a glass bulb with an air plant in it on the living room wall and I love it, but it looks kinda lonely, I might have to do something like this.
