The 'Lil Trike

I spent many a summer cruisin' around the yard in this bad boy, so it brought a smile to my face to see it in my inbox this afternoon. Thanks Dad!

New design work!

Ok, ok it's not totally new, it's actually been a while since I did this logo, but I just saw it up and running in all it's glory today, and I had to share it! Check out the Promontory blog here!

The toy camera experiment

For Christmas Will got me a Diana Mini, which I have been honestly struggling to make to work. The first roll was a complete flop, and the second, well, let's just say it was a vast improvement and I only got about 6 pictures out of a roll of 36. None the less, the ones that did work are pretty cool, and I'm determined to continue the challenge of figuring out a technology that is older than I am.

It is, if anything, a note on how today's technology can make almost anybody relatively good at something that at one point took a lot of dedication and skill. Photography is the perfect example. I can shoot something with my digital nikon, perhaps photoshop it a bit and wham, it's an amazing picture that looks like I caught the light just right, and knew exactly what shutter speed would produce such a gem. I know this is pessimistic, but I can't help but feel we're cheating a little. Not that I'm not guilty of it by the way, I think these pictures prove that. I just find it funny that in this day in age, with all the technology that surrounds me, I am drawn to take pictures on a little plastic camera, taking time, money, and much frustration to produce something that would take about 30 seconds with a digital camera and a computer.

A final note: Google spellchecker recognizes the word "photoshopped", that should tell you something.

Ahhh, the nerdy-ness makes me smile.

Today

4 years ago today I had a cold. It was a Thursday night, I was at work waiting tables and I was miserable. I came home to can of chicken noodle soup, and flowers. I was stubborn, but so were you, and 4 years later I'm at work thinking about how happy I am that you wouldn't take for no for an answer. So happy to get home from work everyday and see your pretty face. You're the crackle to my pop babe, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Today is valentines day, but I don't feel like I need to celebrate because the world does, I want to celebrate because you are rad, and you mean the world to me. Thanks for being so damn wonderful :)

Crab Salad

Will brought home a cooked crab from his parents the other night (I know right, crab from somewhere other than my parents...weird) and we had ourselves a mighty crab salad. It was one of those meals that you could eat and eat until you're in a food coma it was so good, and really simple to make. Just a cooked crab, avocado, corn, black beans, onion, lime and ranch. I was weary of the ranch at first, but not only does a little go a long way, but I forgot just how damn good ranch is.
